Care & Support
Care and Support ministries at Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church exist to journey alongside you during life’s challenging seasons. We seek to embody Christ’s love by offering opportunities to connect with others going through similar circumstances, praying alongside you to our loving God, and providing tangible assistance. If you or someone you love is in need of care, please reach out for help.
Stephen Ministry
FVUMC offers trained Stephen Ministers who are trained to serve alongside a hurting person and meet with that person on a weekly basis to listen, care, encourage, pray, and provide emotional and spiritual support. If you feel called to be trained as a Stephen Minister or know of someone in need of confidential spiritual caregiving, contact one of our pastors or email st*************@***mc.org. Read more about Stephen Ministry.
Visitation Team
The Visitation Team makes monthly visits to those who are homebound or in assisted living facilities and those who would benefit from seeing a friendly face! If you feel called to be trained as a Visitation team member or know of someone in need connection, please email Pastor Melanie at me*****@***mc.org.
Caregiver Support
We have two groups for caregivers (of spouses / of parents) who meet periodically to support one another, pray together, and complete studies. For more information, email Pastor Melanie at me*****@***mc.org.

Bereavement
- GriefShare is a special seminar and support group for people grieving the loss of someone close. This group is sponsored by people who understand want to offer comfort and encouragement during this difficult time. GriefShare features biblical teaching on grief and recovery topics. FVUMC hosts GriefShare sessions periodically throughout the year. Visit griefshare.org for upcoming session information and registration.
- Helping Hands – During times of bereavement we provide a meal for the family of a deceased church member. At the time of a death in our church family, team members receive a phone call to check availability to set-up, serve, clean-up, and/or prepare a dish or two to share with the bereaved family.
- Columbarium – Imagine a meditative garden filled with life and dignified vibrancy with a reflective atmosphere to rejoice in the healing abiding Presence of God. The design of the FVUMC Columbarium offers single or double occupancy niches to hold cremated remains as we remember friends in faith who have shared the journey. Read more about the Columbarium.
Community Resource
- DivorceCare – It’s hard to know how to help someone who is going through a divorce. It takes a long time and a lot of work to heal the pain that comes with the breakup of a marriage. If you know someone going through a divorce, make sure he or she knows about DivorceCare. It might just be the best thing that you can do to help. While FVUMC does not host DivorceCare sessions at the church, there are groups meeting in the area. Visit divorcecare.org and search by zip code to find nearby opportunities.
