Clothing Closet

Several times per year, the FVUMC Clothing Closet ministry provides free clothes and linens to anyone in the church and community. Our centrum is organized in sections with sorted clothing, and anyone can come and get what they need for themselves and/or their family.

To make this outreach possible, a team of volunteers works Wednesday night through Saturday morning. We are in need of volunteers to help unload the sheds, sort / fold clothing, greet / assist shoppers, and clean up / reset the Centrum for each giveaway.

Donating Items for Clothing Give-Away? Here Are Some Helpful Tips!

We accept donations of clothing, jackets, shoes, belts, bags, bedding, and towels ONLY. We can no longer accept donations of other household items due to space limitations.

Bring your clothing donations directly to the centrum on the Wednesday prior to a giveaway from 6-6:30pm or on the prior Thursday morning. Enter via the adult wing side entrance. (While donations can be dropped in our shed behind the building throughout the year, bringing them to the centrum during the give-away setup saves our team the extra step of hauling everything to the building!)

Sort your donations and divide them by type and size (ex: Ladies Medium). Label each bag with type and size (ex: Boys 2T). Please use bags that can be tied at the top and be sure to tie them so items can’t fall out. Don’t overfill bags – it makes them difficult to manage.
