Meeting Details:

Information about the Group:
Have you ever felt a loss of words when relating to a friend or loved one who is going through a difficult situation? Have you ever felt the desire to better relate to your spouse, children, parents, siblings, or co-workers? The Gift of Empathy takes an in-depth yet down-to-earth look at empathy, showing readers how to use it in a wide range of situations and relationships. It defines what empathy is and isn’t, offers practical insights on how to empathize, and demonstrates unique applications of empathy in various kinds of relationships.
The book (and study) are divided into 2 sections:
Section 1 covers the Introduction – Chapter 7. It defines what empathy is (and isn’t), how it use empathy, and how feelings are mixed in. Participants should read the Introduction – Chapter 7 prior to the first session. Section 2 covers the Interlude – Chapter 17. It covers the use of empathy in several specific settings. Participants will choose 3 (of 6) specific settings to discuss.
There are a select number of free copies of the book available in the church office offered on a first come, first serve basis. Participants may also purchase a copy of the book via Stephen Ministry.
