Transformational Generosity in 2025
Since its original beginnings in 1903, the prayerful sacrifices and determination of our faithful church family have built an invaluable legacy in the greater Fuquay-Varina area. Consider your gifts, your calling, and your place in contributing to the continuing legacy of transformational discipleship we each have as part of the FVUMC family.
Level Up Challenge
Recently, we challenged our church family to level up on their discipleship journey. For some, this meant taking Core 1 or joining a small group. For others, this meant making a commitment to attending worship on a more regular basis. And for many, it meant finding new ways to serve within our church and community.
Now, we are adding a new focus to this challenge: it is time for all of us to level up our financial support of FVUMC’s mission and ministry because our collective work is only made possible because of your Transformational Generosity.
Why Give to FVUMC?
Your support makes God’s work at FVUMC possible: Over 99% of the resources it takes for our church to do mission and ministry comes from the generosity of our congregation.
All we have comes from God, and we believe that giving to God’s work at FVUMC is an act of worship, discipleship, and faithfulness as we participate in the work of the Kingdom of God in our community and our world.
Expanded Vision for 2025
Since 2016, our budget has remained relatively flat for a church our size. We’ve done a lot of ministry within that constraint, but it is time to level up our budget to support our growing church family and community. In 2025, we would love to see our total budget grow by about $400K to be around $2M. By household, that translates to about $33 per month above what you are currently giving.
If you’re not currently giving, help us close the gap and grow our capacity for transformational work by supporting FVUMC’s 2025 Mission + Ministry Budget. Imagine how much more transformational Mission + Ministry would be possible if every household supported FVUMC financially!
Why Return an Estimate of Giving?
Your Estimate of Giving is an essential resource as our church leaders plan the 2025 Mission + Ministry Budget so that we do not over-promise and under-deliver on our collective work and implementation of our vision focus areas: Discipleship Pathway, Discipleship Environments, Community Partnerships, and Servant Leadership.
Ways to Give
- Offering — Cash or checks may be placed in the boxes in lobby or exterior dropbox at adult side entrance
- Our Website — Visit fvumc.org/give for one-time or recurring gifts
- Online Banking — Arrange to give through bill pay through your bank’s website
- Charitable Distribution from IRA — Did you know that donors are able to make Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD) directly from their IRA accounts? “If I’d known sooner, the church would have received more money from us for years!” said a FVUMC member recently. Using this option, donors can reduce the impact a required minimum distribution (RMD) can have on their income tax bracket. The key is for the check to be sent directly to the church. While the age for RMDs has risen to 73, anyone over 70 ½ can give a QCD. Please reach out to your financial advisor for information and to begin the process.
- Giving Appreciated Property — If you own investments that have increased in value (stocks, bonds, real estate, or mutual funds), you can donate them to FVUMC and take a charitable income tax deduction for the full fair market value and avoid declaring as income the capital gain realized from the sale. Many people consider this the equivalent of a “double deduction.” In addition, we may be able to reduce or limit any brokerage fees by working through United Methodist Foundation, Inc. to process your gift. All of this results in being able to give more. Contact Chris Wilms, Executive Director, at ex***************@***mc.org for more information.
