Making God’s Love Known: Locally and Beyond
Missions and Outreach at FVUMC is all about making God’s love known, as we strive to embody the love of Christ in our local community and beyond.
We love because God first loved us – serving is our joyful response to the love of God that has been poured into our hearts through Christ.
Serving is an integral part of our discipleship – it helps us become more like Jesus.

Gifted to Serve
We believe everyone has been gifted by the Holy Spirit to serve in ways that are meaningful and life-giving for them – and that make a difference in the lives of others.
We are called to serve not just within the church but beyond church walls in the broader community as we care for our neighbors. We don’t think anyone should serve everywhere, but everyone should serve somewhere.
Whether you love to cook, build, garden, read with kids, sew, or simply show up and help – there’s a place for you to share your gifts and serve.
Not sure what your gifts are or where to start? Our Core 2: Gifted to Serve class is designed to help you identify your gifts and how to use them.
We need your unique abilities to help others know God’s love for them.
Transformed Lives Transform Communities

No Experience Needed
Our ministry teams and experienced volunteers will equip you with everything you need to serve. All you have to do is show up!

Flexible Service Opportunities
There are weekly, monthly, short-term and long-term opportunities to serve. Whether you have an hour a week or an hour a month to give, we’ll help you find something that works for you.

Intergenerational Participation
There are opportunities for all ages – from toddlers to senior adults – to serve, and serve together in meaningful ways.

A Heart For Serving Locally
Most often, we serve right here in the greater Fuquay Varina area. We also engage in serving through our United Methodist connection, in Western NC and globally through denominational missions.

Spiritual Growth Through Service
Serving isn’t just about what we do with and for others – it’s about what God does in us, as we are transformed in the process to become more like Jesus.
Opportunities for All Ages to Serve
Missions and Outreach at FVUMC isn’t just for grownups – there are opportunities for folks of all ages to serve!
Discipleship is a lifelong journey, and serving others is a key way that faith is lived out in action.
Our Children’s & Youth Ministries periodically plan serving opportunities specifically for those in their ministry areas, and there are always places for families to serve together.
Packing and delivering meals with Main Street Kitchen; planting, weeding, and watering in our Covenant Community Garden; or helping sort and organize donations at a partner organization like Crossing All Borders are all great options that are family-friendly.

A Hub for Wesleyan Discipleship
With God’s help, our vision is to be a hub for wesleyan discipleship and mission in the greater Fuquay Varina area. Being a hub means we don’t try to do everything ourselves, and we know we’re not doing anything on our own. By partnering with other organizations and churches in the community, we are able to join the work God is already doing so that together we can have the greatest collective impact. We need each other, and we can do more together.
We are a resource hub, not a headquarters. We want to be the kind of place that connects people to each other, to the community, and to God — and then sends them back out into all the places where they live, work, learn, and play equipped to live differently.

Our Missions and Outreach Programs
These are programs and initiatives spearheaded and coordinated by FVUMC. They are core expressions of who we are as a congregation.
Community Partners
FVUMC partners with trusted organizations in our local community and beyond – through financial resources, volunteer power, and ongoing relationships. These partnerships extend our reach and enable us to have a greater collective impact as we join what God is already doing by transforming lives and transforming our community.
